Senator Fischer Applauds Actual Infrastructure Framework

U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), a member of the Senate Commerce Committee and the top Republican on the Surface Transportation, Maritime, Freight, and Ports Subcommittee, released the following statement after Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), Pat Toomey (R-Pa.), and John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) held a press conference announcing a framework to address the nation's infrastructure needs:

"I am pleased that an actual infrastructure proposal has been put forward. This framework recognizes the Senate's successful past bipartisan work. From roads and bridges to ports, airports, waterways and broadband, core infrastructure is a key responsibility of the federal government. This is how the Biden administration and Congress ought to be approaching this critical issue."

Senator Fischer is a leading legislator on infrastructure. She helped craft the 2015 FAST Act, led on bipartisan pipeline safety legislation signed into law, worked on the 2018 FAA reauthorization, and has backed numerous pieces of legislation to expand broadband connectivity. She chaired the Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Surface Transportation from 2015-2021 and now serves as the subcommittee's top Republican.
