Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05), Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus, issued the following statement today after the passing of Former Vice President Walter "Fritz" Mondale:
"Vice President Mondale was a faithful public servant who spent his career working tirelessly to improve the lives of the American people. Fritz was a true, genuine partner to President Carter and helped pass transformative legislation to improve the lives of many. I appreciated the opportunity to get to know him while he served as Vice President and later volunteered on his presidential campaign.

"Even in his last words, Fritz encouraged his staff to keep up "the good fight' to ensure our country is a better nation for all. I know his last words are meaningful not just to his former team, but all Americans. His contributions to this country will never be forgotten.

"Jennifer and I extend our deepest condolences to Vice President Mondale's family during this difficult time."
