Sen. Marshall Announces $65,000 in USDA Rural Development Funding for City of Jamestown

U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. today announced $65,000 in USDA Rural Development funding for the city of Jamestown. This grant will be used to purchase a building to house Jamestown City Hall, as the current facility is unusable due to public health concerns.

"Supporting development in rural Kansas is vital to the success of our great state, and I applaud USDA's investment in the city of Jamestown," said Senator Marshall. "Cities in rural Kansas deserve a sound and safe building to conduct business and provide local services. These dollars are an important part of USDA's efforts to promote the success of communities in rural America for years to come."

Background:

This USDA Rural Development investment of $65,000 will be used to purchase and equip a Morton building to house a city hall for the city of Jamestown. The existing city hall is covered in mold, affecting employee health, which makes the building unusable. Once the new facility is completed, the city will have a city hall that meets all ADA requirements; employees will have a safe working environment, and customers will have a safe and accessible place to pay their utility bills and inquire about local services.
