Fischer: Essential Air Service Contracts Good News for Chadron and Alliance

Today, U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), a member of the Senate Commerce Committee and ranking member of the Subcommittee on Surface Transportation, Maritime, Freight, and Ports, released the following statement after the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) approved two contracts to provide Essential Air Service in Chadron and Alliance:

"Essential Air Service is an important program that helps keep smaller and rural communities connected. I have long advocated to keep this program going. These contracts are good news for Chadron and Alliance and will ensure that flight service is available for Nebraskans in these communities."

Senator Fischer has long fought to keep the Essential Air Service program running.

USDOT approved Southern Airways Express to provide Essential Air Service to Chadron. This will be a two-year contract beginning on June 1, 2021. Southern Airways will provide a nine-seat aircraft for 12 weekly round trip flights between Chadron and Denver.

USDOT renewed Key Lime Air's, also known as Denver Air Connection (DAC), contract for another two years beginning June 1, 2021. DAC will provide a nine-seat aircraft for 12 weekly round trip flights between Alliance and Denver.
