Crow Votes to Protect and Strengthen Workers' Right to Organize

Rep. Jason Crow (CO-06) today voted to pass the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, comprehensive labor legislation that would protect workers' right to stand together and bargain for fairer wages, better benefits, and safer workplaces.

"Unions helped build America's middle class and continue to protect it," said Congressman Jason Crow. "Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, we've seen firsthand how frontline workers are essential to keeping this country running. By passing the PRO Act, we can protect workers' ability to form a union and bargain collectively for higher wages, better benefits and safer working conditions. We cannot afford to wait."

"We need to pass the PRO Act so American can get to work building back better. A union contract is the single best tool we have to close racial and gender wage gaps, and to ensure dignity and due process for workers, regardless of where we were born, who we are or what industry we work in," said Dennis Dougherty, Executive Director, Colorado AFL-CIO.

The PRO Act would be the most significant upgrade for workers' collective bargaining rights in more than 80 years. The legislation would protect the right to organize and collectively bargain by:

Providing new tools to protect workers from anti-union intimidation and retaliation;
Establishing stronger safeguards to ensure workers can hold free and fair union elections; and
Introducing meaningful penalties for companies⎯ and executives⎯ that violate workers' collective bargaining rights.
