Sen. Cramer: Entertainment Venues Receive Support in Targeted Relief Package

Press Release

Date: Dec. 22, 2020
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND), a member of the Senate Budget and Senate Banking committees, issued the following statement on Congress passing a targeted COVID-19 relief package with $15 billion in funding for entertainment venues experiencing significant revenue loss caused by the COVID-19 pandemic:

"Entertainment venues were among the first to be impacted by COVID-19 and will be some of the last to fully recover. The funds we authorized in this most recent relief package will help venues stay afloat as we reopen and await a time when we can safely return to these facilities to see our favorite shows and performances."

Senator Cramer called for additional support for these venues in May and cosponsored the Save Our Stages Act, which became the groundwork for the final legislation approved by Congress. Jade Nielsen, President of Jade Presents which hosts music events at venues such as the Fargo Theatre, worked to gain support for including this relief and applauded Senator Cramer for his work.

"I want to thank Senator Cramer for his support with the Save Our Stages bill, which is included in the Covid Relief package," said Nielsen. "This is much needed legislation to support live entertainment throughout ND. 2020 is my 30th year in business and quite honestly, without this support, I'm not sure if Jade Presents could continue in 2021. We were the first to close down and are expected to be the last to re-open….but with this, we WILL reopen. Myself, and our 200+ full and part time employees, applaud Cramer and Congress."
