Congressman Lucas Votes Against Sweeping Union Legislation

Statement

Date: March 9, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Frank Lucas (OK-03) released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 842- the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act. Lucas opposed the legislation.

"America's strength and prosperity is shouldered on the backs of millions of hard-working Americans. In the great state of Oklahoma, pro-growth, right-to-work without unionizing policies have led to tremendous job growth, low taxes, and countless opportunities for Oklahoma's workers and businesses," said Congressman Lucas. "Passed by House Democrats tonight, the PRO Act is a sweeping, one-size-fits-all bill that sends a clear message: House Democrats' allegiance is with union bosses, not workers or small businesses. The PRO Act would fundamentally upend long-standing employment law in favor of labor unions, strip workers of their rights, and dramatically restructure America's workplaces and gig economy. At a time when scores of American workers and businesses are beginning to make a comeback, this misguided legislation passed tonight will only curb opportunities and undermine millions of American workers and businesses."
