Congresswoman Nancy Mace (SC-01) joined her fellow Oversight Committee Republicans on Wednesday to urge Democratic Chairwoman Rep. Carolyn Maloney (NY-12) to subpoena New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to testify before the panel on nursing home COVID-19 deaths in his state.

"On February 11, 2021, a top aide to Governor Cuomo, Melissa DeRosa, told New York Senate Democrats that the Cuomo Administration intentionally 'froze' the state's nursing home death toll out of fear the truth would be 'used against [the Cuomo Administration]' by the U.S. Department of Justice," the Members wrote. "Given this admission that Governor Cuomo and his Administration engaged in a cover-up affecting those most vulnerable to COVID-19, we request that you immediately notice a full committee hearing with Governor Cuomo as the sole witness...We owe it to the thousands of families who lost loved ones because of Governor Cuomo's alleged recklessness."

For more than nine months, Republicans on the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis have repeatedly demanded accountability and transparency while blowing the whistle on Governor Cuomo's actions. To date, Select Subcommittee Democrats, including Chairwoman Maloney, have declined to join Republicans in their efforts to hold Governor Cuomo accountable.
