Luján Statement Honoring America's Veterans

Statement

Date: Nov. 11, 2020
Location: Nambé, NM
Issues: Veterans

U.S. House Assistant Speaker Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) issued the following statement marking Veterans Day:

"From the Navajo Code Talkers and soldiers who endured the Bataan Death March in World War II to our Korean War Veterans, Vietnam Veterans, and Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans, New Mexicans have always answered the call to serve. They have put their lives on the line to protect our freedoms and keep our country safe.

"A grateful nation honors their service and sacrifice on this Veterans Day. However, our debt of gratitude cannot be repaid in a single day, or by a single action of thanks. It's crucial that our nation fulfills its promises and supports our veterans in their return to civilian life. I will continue working in Congress to uphold the commitments we've made to our veterans, servicemembers, and military families."
