Amata Congratulates Three Programs Upon Youth Health Education Grants

Statement

Tuesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata congratulated three local organizations upon federal grant notifications for their youth programs teaching sexual risk avoidance. Together, the three grants total $929,206 for these efforts in American Samoa.

The three grants are as follows:

Intersections, Inc., $415,841 federal funding for their American Samoa Students Talking About Real Solutions (STARS) program,
Pacific Youth and Community Development, $445,834, federal funding for their American Samoa Protect Our Youth project,
Grace Health Care, Inc., $67,531 federal funding for their Alofatunoa mo tatou talavou (Grace of Our Youth) project.
Each of these allocations is a discretionary health services grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and specifically, the Administration for Children and Families, and its Family and Youth Services Bureau.

"Congratulations to Intersections, to Pacific Youth and Community Development, and to Grace Health Care," said Aumua Amata. "I want to extend particular appreciation to June Pouesi with Grace, Kathryn McCutchan with Pacific Youth and Community Development, and Losoloso Iaulualo with Intersections. Thank you to these services for their work with our young people."
