Amata Hails Historic Abraham Accords

Statement

Date: Sept. 16, 2020
Location: Washington, DC

Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata released the following statement welcoming the normalization of relations between Israel and the U.A.E. and Bahrain:

"This historic agreement is the most significant of its kind in nearly a quarter century. Two countries in the region, both with economic clout, are formally willing to be trade partners with Israel, showing mutual trust and an obvious acknowledgment of Israel's right to exist and know peace. This is good news for the world, and possibly the start of more nations in the region taking similar steps. Congratulations to all involved in this important diplomatic effort, and this service to our country and international stability. Israel is a friend to the United States, and we have many key relationships in the region, like the U.A.E. and Bahrain, who are committed to peace."

"Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: May they prosper who love you." Psalm 122:6 NKJV

Last year, Congresswoman Amata traveled to both Bahrain and UAE on a bipartisan congressional delegation to visit the troops. She has also visited Israel and has met with both Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Alternate PM/Minister of Defense Benny Gantz.

Also in 2019, Samoa and Israel reached a mutual relationship agreement between the nations to benefit economic activity, tourism, visa-free travel, and more.
