U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) released the following statement on President Trump's nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court:

"In New Hampshire and across our country, the election is underway, and the millions of Americans voting should decide who will select the next nominee to the Supreme Court. Instead of wrongly trying to ram through a nominee during an election, Mitch McConnell should recognize the urgency of passing a COVID-19 relief package to help our cities and towns and all those struggling to pay the rent and put food on the table.

"There is so much at stake today, from health care access for more than half a million Granite Staters with pre-existing conditions, to women's reproductive freedoms and the future of civil and voting rights in America. There is no need to rush this nominee. Judge Barrett's record of opposing Roe v. Wade and the Affordable Care Act is extremely troubling and demonstrates that the President is trying to advance his own partisan agenda with this nomination, at the expense of the people of New Hampshire."
