Preserving Our Water and Open Spaces

Right after we purchased our home in Sandia Park, we found out that there was a company that wanted to build a large "'resort lifestyle community' including resorts, retail space, two golf courses, and more than 4,000 homes" close to our house. This company had put in an application to drill deep wells in the Sandia basin to draw large amounts of water. My husband and I immediately donated time and money to North 14 Deep Well Project to help stop this water grab.

A few years later our well went dry and it cost us thousands to dig a deeper well. We absolutely understand how precious water is to the residents of the East Mountains and why it is essential to preserve what we have.

The big draw to living in the East Mountains are the wide-open spaces and the National Forest nearby. We also love that you can see the stars at night. When elected, I want to preserve our beautiful open spaces and make sure that our forests are properly maintained for years to come.
