Issue Position

As our State Senator, Dan Blue has been a leading voice for affordable, quality healthcare services. Dan Blue has been a leader working with Governor Roy Cooper advocating for the expansion of Medicaid -- helping thousands of our state's working poor to be able to access, affordable, quality care.

"What good is health insurance if you can't afford the premiums, the co-payments or cover the cost of a deductible? Too many citizens in this state have insurance but can't afford the out-of-pocket costs of healthcare. It's time to hold the providers and the insurance industry accountable -- because our residents must be able to get health care coverage they can afford and that meets their family's needs."

Reduce the cost of prescription drugs including insulin

Improve the state's mental health care delivery system
Work with providers across the state to stem the opioid epidemic
