Passed major education reforms to achieve better results in the classroom and improve graduation rates.
Created the Read to Achieve program to strengthen student literacy by third grade, and just this past budget expanded reading camps to first and second grade.
Established an A-F school grading system based on student achievement to better inform school personnel, parents and the community on school performance, and help target resources. We also use these grades to help identify low-performing schools.
Removed the cap on charter schools and created the opportunity scholarship program to provide more academic choices for parents.
