Amata Welcomes $2 Million EPA Grant For ASEPA

Monday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata is welcoming a grant from the Environmental Protection Agency for $1,976,100 for the American Samoa EPA.

"Thank you to Fa'amao Asalele, and congratulations to ASEPA upon this grant notification," said Aumua Amata. "These federal funds are helpful for local efforts to protect drinking water and other health priorities. Thank you to everyone working on these efforts at ASEPA."

The award is federal funding for American Samoa EPA's Consolidated Environmental Management Program. This program includes responsibility for drinking water, territorial and beach water quality monitoring, watershed management, brownfields program development and site cleanup, pesticide needs, environmental education, and community outreach, and clean air management.

The funds are part of a multi-year project of $12,682,100.
