Date: April 15, 2020
Location: Washington, DC

Wednesday, Congresswoman Aumua Amata is welcoming a housing grant of $16,404 that helps the very low income through the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Department, led by Secretary Dr. Ben Carson.

"I appreciate this grant because it can help improve a housing situation for someone who really needs it," notes Aumua Amata. "We welcome grants of all sizes because each one like this helps out someone on our islands, so it can make a difference for a family."

The Housing Trust Fund (HTF) focuses on helping provide decent, safe, and sanitary affordable housing.

This affordable housing production program complements existing Federal, state and local/territorial efforts to increase and preserve the supply of healthy affordable housing for those households that are extremely low-income or very low-income, or possibly homeless families.

These funds may be used for the acquisition, new construction, reconstruction, and/or rehabilitation of essential housing with necessary amenities.

These funds are made available through fees assessed to Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae and are generated by home purchases with federal lending activity across the United States.
