Gianforte: Jobs Report Continues "Strong, Positive Trend for Hardworking Americans"

Press Release

Date: March 6, 2020
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Greg Gianforte (R-Mont.) released the following statement in response to today's February 2020 jobs report from the U.S. Department of Labor:

"Today's jobs report continues the strong, positive trend for hardworking Americans. Wages continue to grow, and unemployment is at a 50-year low. Our pro-growth policies of cutting taxes and red tape are working, and now is not the time to increase taxes or force burdensome regulations on Montana farmers, ranchers, and small business owners. I'll keep working on policies that grow our economy, create good-paying Montana jobs, and build greater opportunities for all Montanans."
Background:

According to the U.S. Department of Labor,

273,000 new American jobs were created in February, beating expectations of 175,000;

the unemployment rate is 3.5 percent, the lowest rate since December 1969;

the unemployment rate for women is 3.4 percent, which ties the lowest rate since 1953;

the labor force participation rate remains at 63.4 percent, its highest point since 2013, with more workers entering the workforce with good-paying jobs; and

wages for private-sector workers have grown 3 percent over the last year.

Since President Trump was elected, nearly 7.5 million new American jobs have been created.
