Rep. Burchett provides update on efforts to revise CMS proposed proton therapy plan

Statement

Today, Congressman Tim Burchett (TN-02) released the following statement:

"My staff and I are aware of the impact that uncertainty is having on Provision Proton Therapy and its employees in East Tennessee. Yesterday, my staff met on a conference call with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services personnel to get an update on where they are in the process of finalizing their proposed Radiation Oncology Alternative Payment Model. We expressed the urgent need to provide clarity to the healthcare industry, stakeholders in East Tennessee, providers and patients in timely manner. Some employees at providers like Provision Proton Therapy are currently unable to work, and those who need treatment could have to look elsewhere because of the delay in a federal decision over this plan. This isn't fair to the people of East Tennessee, and I will continue to push for an end to the uncertainty that is having a negative impact on our region."
