Sen. Cramer Statement on Confirmation Fish and Wildlife Service Director

Statement

Date: Dec. 12, 2019
Location: Washington D.C.

U.S. Senator and Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee member Kevin Cramer (R-ND) issued the following statement after the Senate voted today to confirm Aurelia Skipwith as the Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) Director:

"Congratulations to Aurelia Skipwith on her confirmation. North Dakota landowners have seen FWS infringe upon their private property rights time and time again, an issue we discussed with Secretary Bernhardt during his visit to Hope earlier this year. Skipwith's confirmation presents an opportunity to overcome the status quo. I look forward to working with her and the Secretary to find solutions to these pressing issues and to hosting her when she visits North Dakota."

Senator Cramer met with Skipwith after President Trump nominated her in June. During her hearing before the EPW Committee, she and Senator Cramer discussed FWS's infringement of private property rights, and she accepted Senator Cramer's invitation to visit North Dakota.
