Last night, U.S. Senators Rob Portman (R-OH) and Sherrod Brown (D-OH) praised the Senate for passing their bipartisan resolution condemning the horrific attack in Dayton, Ohio on August 4, 2019 when a gunman took the lives of nine innocent people. The resolution also expresses support for all those impacted by the shooting and gratitude to the first responders whose quick actions saved countless lives.

"Today the Senate stood with the community of Dayton and condemned the horrific attack that claimed the lives of nine innocent people earlier this year," said Portman. "I'm proud of the way Dayton has come together in support of one another, and I'm grateful to my Senate colleagues for passing this resolution unanimously today."

"There is no reason one man should have been able to kill nine people in Dayton and injure dozens more in less than a minute -- and if it weren't for the brave first responders from the Dayton Police Department, far more lives could have been lost," said Brown. "We must honor the lives of those who were slain and continue to offer support to their loved ones and the Dayton community as we work to end senseless gun violence."
