Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today signed legislation (S.2027/A.888) to designate a portion of the state highway system as the "Steve Godlewski Memorial Bridge." Before his passing in March 2018, Steve Godlewski had served as a Town Councilperson in the Town of Black Brook, as Town Supervisor, and as a local businessman at the local Feeks Pharmacy. In recognition of his contribution to the community as a whole, the Towns of Black Brook and Jay are dedicating in his memory the AuSable Forks Bridge on State Route 9N, crossing the west branch of the AuSable River and connecting the town of Black Brook in Clinton County with the town of Jay in Essex County.

"Steve Godlewski was a dedicated public servant and businessman and his impact on the local community will be felt for years to come," Governor Cuomo said. "This bridge dedication is one small way to honor the monumental work he did to make Black Brook and Jay better places for everyone."

Senator Elizabeth O'Connor Little said, "Steve was one of Black Brook's 'unsung heroes'. Not only did he lead the town as Supervisor, he was a valued business owner and an involved, helpful community member. He is so deserving of this recognition, which will serve as a reminder to all for his contributions to Black Brook and AuSable Forks residents, and as an inspiration for us all. He will not be forgotten."

Assembly Member D. Billy Jones said, "Steve Godlewski was a larger-than-life figure who touched so many lives here in the North Country. For decades, he served the Black Brook and Jay communities as not only a public servant but the longtime owner of Feeks Pharmacy, providing compassion to anyone who walked through the door. I'm grateful this legislation was signed into law so Steve can be remembered for everything that he did for the North Country and the years he spent making it a better place."
