Governor Cuomo Signs Legislation to Designate a Portion of the State Highway System as The Roger J. Mazal Memorial Bridge

Governor Cuomo today signed legislation (S.6213A/A.8013A) to designate a portion of the state highway system as the Roger K. Mazal Memorial Bridge. Mazal was killed in action on March 7, 1969, in the Pleiku province of Vietnam. Last year the bridge crossing Kline Kill in Columbia County was renamed as the Roger J. Mazal Memorial Bridge. This law relocates the designation from the bridge crossing Kline Kill to the bridge in downtown Valatie that crosses Kinderhook Creek. Mazal was a Valatie native.

"Roger Mazal made the ultimate sacrifice in service to this nation and we owe him the greatest debt of gratitude for it," Governor Cuomo said. "Renaming this crossing in Roger Mazal's honor is a fitting way to commemorate his bravery and ensure he is remembered in his community for generations to come."

Mazal Memorial Bridge to honor the memory and legacy of this American hero and help inspire future generations to heroism.
