Issue Position

FOR: I support increased law enforcement policies and penalties for heroin-related offenses.

The heroin epidemic is spreading around the country at a significant increase. A recent 20/20 episode focused on the epidemic, mainly paying attention to NH. A moment in a middle school showed that nearly all students had seen a heroin needle. One student even demonstrated how to administer Narcan, an antidote meant to reverse the effects of heroin, to a teddy bear. I believe that having Narcan available may be beneficial, but as it is becoming more easily accessible we are being too lenient which allows for further heroin use. I believe the heroin epidemic is the most important public policy to focus on as these numbers are rising to exponential numbers. If elected, I believe this is a large issue to pursue but would be willing to allow the public to voice their opinions and address this together.
