Require that every new building developed at the Point of the Mountain (after the expensive move of the state prison) be Green/Leed-Certified
Fact: by 2050, emissions from new buildings will contribute three tons of emissions per day in our valley (Point of the Mountain Development Commission)
If a small group of real estate developers are going to make massive fortunes on the backs of Utah tax payers, then they must do it in a sustainable manner so that we can improve the environmental quality for our children and their children
For every dollar of subsidies cut for renewable energy, an equal amount of money, dollar for dollar, must be cut for subsidizing fossil fuels.
All money cut from fossil fuel subsidies must be earmarked to provide training and re-employment support for workers in the fossil fuel industries
Provide financial incentive to build new green-certified, energy efficient buildings, as well as to retrofit older buildings in order to decrease the significant contributions buildings make to hazardous air quality
Require all publicly owned and subsidized properties to become water-friendly by improving watering habits in the short term, ultimately re-landscaping to create low-water properties
