Issue Position: Protect Our Farms and Agriculture

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2018

Frederick County is home to over 1,300 farms covering 181,500 acres. Both Frederick and Carroll Counties are mostly rural, beautiful communities filled with National and State Parks, mountains, rivers, streams and pastures. Frederick County farmers produce nearly $100 million in agricultural products a year. Frederick County is also the largest producer of milk in the State of Maryland. We need to preserve our Agriculture and help our farmers. Most residents agree that the overdevelopment of residential communities in certain parts of the County have caused major strains on our infrastructure. We need to find a balance between our rural and urban communities.
