Issue Position: Family

Marriage is between one man and one woman, and it's important that we protect the family unit.

Public policy should be crafted to help strengthen families, not tear them apart. Strong families build strong communities and that benefits us all.

When the Supreme Court forced same-sex marriage on states and private institutions they were greatly overstepping their constitutional authority. South Carolina must take action to defend traditional marriage and other principles that we hold dear. One specific proposal that should be immediately passed is to protect magistrates and other government officials from violating their sincerely held beliefs on marriage.

Steven will stand alongside students, public administration workers, business owners, and pastors that are persecuted by the government for their faith. The government has no place interfering with religious matters.
