Let's face it - the Trump administration is horrible for the environment. Connecticut must remain vigilant to preserve the environment for our children and fight every single day to dial back the damage being done in Washington - it is important now more than ever.

We need to adhere to the standards set by the set forth by the Paris Climate agreement and the Comprehensive Energy Strategy (CES) and increase the Renewable Portfolio Standard to 40 percent by 2030, and even further towards the goal of attaining a 100% renewable energy system in our lifetime.

We need to follow the lead of Manchester and Glastonbury and enact a statewide ban on hydraulic fracking waste. While I certainly support the concept of energy independence in America and affordable energy alternatives, particularly through the use of clean, renewable energy sources, there is absolutely no reason for Connecticut to ever start participating in fracking operations with the current technologies available.

We need to support the Connecticut Green Bank, an innovative concept which has the potential to achieve cleaner, less expensive, and more reliable sources of energy while creating jobs and supporting local economic development.
