Senator John Hoeven today congratulated three North Dakota schools designated by the U.S. Department of Education (ED) as 2018 National Blue Ribbon Schools: Central Valley School in Buxton, Freedom Elementary in West Fargo and Richland Elementary in Abercrombie. Schools receive the designation for making significant improvements toward closing achievement gaps or for overall academic excellence, with the North Dakota schools being recognized as "exemplary high performing schools."

"To be designated a National Blue Ribbon School is an extraordinary accomplishment and highlights the hard work and dedication of teachers and school administrators to provide students a superior education and learning experience," said Hoeven. "We congratulate Central Valley School, Freedom Elementary and Richland Elementary for being recognized as National Blue Ribbon Schools."

The National Blue Ribbon Program was established in 1982 to recognize the work of the nation's top schools. Since the program's founding, 40 North Dakota schools have been designated as blue ribbon schools, with some being designated more than once.
