During the five years I served in the State Senate, no legislator worked harder to protect families from government overreach, and to defend the rights of parents to raise and educate their children according to their values.
I introduced a proposed constitutional amendment that would make it possible for Alaska to have a robust system of school choice, where parents have the freedom to select and the ability to afford the schooling option that works best for their child. I also sponsored legislation that would allow parents to remove their children from courses or presentations that they find objectionable. I believe parents are the primary caregivers for their children -- not the government.
