Montana Congressman Greg Gianforte voted today to increase military pay, improve military readiness, and increase America's ability to confront aggression and national security threats.

The National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2019 (NDAA) passed the House 351-66. The bill authorizes $717 billion in military spending, an increase of $83 billion from last year's funding level.

"America's men and women in uniform keep us safe in a dangerous world and protect our way of life. Today, I voted to provide them with a well-deserved pay raise and with the necessary equipment, training, and resources they need to get the job done and come home," Gianforte said. "Today we continued the process of rebuilding and strengthening our military and reaffirmed our commitment to our troops and their families."

NDAA provides servicemembers with a 2.6 percent pay raise -- the largest military pay raise in the past 9 years. The bill also increases the size of our armed forces, replaces aging military equipment, begins to restore our land and sea defenses, and makes crucial investments in our missile systems.

The bill authorizes $9 million for construction of an aircraft apron at Great Falls International Airport and $15 million for National Guard facilities in Malta.
