Location: Washington, DC

Today, U.S. Representative Sam Graves, (MO-06), a member of the House Armed Services Committee issued the following statement after the House passed Fiscal Year 2019 National Defense Authorization Act (Defense Bill):

"The Defense Bill includes additional funding for upgrades to St. Joseph's Air National Guard's C-130H fleet," said Graves. This modernization effort will ensure the longevity of the C-130H fleet for years to come."

"Moreover, the Defense Bill secures the largest pay increase for troops in nine years and includes funding to help preserve the long-term sustainability of the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, MO. Additionally, the Defense Bill supports an increase in funding to address critical readiness shortfalls and reflects Congress' and the President's commitment to rebuilding our military."

"Passage of the Defense Bill is a win-win for our military and our economy here in Missouri. The Defense Bill calls for the production of more F-18 Super Hornets, which supports about 13,000 jobs and over 90 businesses in Missouri. This investment, while great for MO, really boosts the military's never-ending job of defending our country."
