Congresswoman Ann Wagner (R-MO-02) released the below statement following House passage of H.R. 6157, the Department of Defense Appropriations Act. Yesterday, Wagner spoke on the House Floor regarding a bipartisan amendment she co-sponsored to double funding for the Fisher House Foundation, a not-for-profit that provides lodging to military families who are visiting their loved ones during hospitalization. "Today, we voted to strengthen national security, prioritize the needs of our servicemembers and veterans, give our troops a much-needed pay raise, and boost our local economy. The Department of Defense Appropriations Act will also improve naval aviation readiness by funding 24 Super Hornets. These aircraft are critical in protecting us from foreign threats and will have a lasting impact on our local economy, sustaining over 5,000 jobs in the St. Louis area.

"We also know that a family's love is the best medicine, which is why, for the second year in a row, I led the effort to double funding for the Fisher House Foundation. I have seen firsthand how the Fisher House at Jefferson Barracks provides stability, convenience, and one less thing to worry about for our military and veteran families as their husbands, wives, sons, or daughters undergo tough days of treatment."
