DeSantis Urges Trump Administration to Stand by the Kurds

Statement

Rep. Ron DeSantis (FL-06) issued the following statement on the current situation in Iraq:

"Reports from the field suggest that Iraqi military units and forces aligned with the Iranian government, including Quds Force Commander Qassem Soleimani, have deployed heavy weapons in anticipation of a major attack against the Peshmerga. The Kurds have been a strong ally of ours while Iranian-backed militias killed hundreds of American troops in Iraq. The U.S. should stand by the Kurds. It would be tragic if we allowed the Kurds to be steamrolled by forces who have American blood on their hands."
