Rokita Fights Raising the Debt Ceiling

Statement

Date: Sept. 8, 2017
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Todd Rokita released the following after voting against raising the debt ceiling.

"I voted against suspending the debt ceiling today because we cannot continue to spend recklessly and jeopardize the American Dream for our children and grandchildren. That said, I understand and share the President's frustrations with the inability of Republicans in the House, and particularly the Senate, to move a bold conservative agenda forward. If Republicans would put aside their disagreements, actually fight the failed policies of the Washington elite and support the President's agenda, the President wouldn't be forced into cutting deals that maintain the status quo. I hope this is a wakeup call for Republicans. It's time to get our act together and follow through on our promises."
