Cohen's Statement on Holocaust Remembrance Day

Statement

Date: April 24, 2017
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today released the following statement in observance of Yom Ha'Shoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day:

"Today we remember and mourn the six million Jews and other religious and ethnic minorities murdered during the Holocaust. I am proud to have drafted and passed a resolution as a Tennessee State Senator creating one of the first state Holocaust Commissions in America. The Commission has focused on education to ensure we never forget, because to forget is to allow history to repeat itself. With some of the recent omissions of Jews and the Holocaust and errant remarks concerning "centers,' it is obvious that remembrance is more important than ever. The rise of anti-Semitism in the United States following the 2016 Presidential election should be a reminder that we must continue to speak out against hatred and bigotry in all of its forms and, as a society, collectively say, "never again.'"
