Senator Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, the senior Republican in the United States Senate, issued the following statement applauding President Trump's energy independence executive order:

"Over the last eight years, I have had deep concerns with the EPA's swarm of burdensome regulations put forth under the guise of the so-called Clean Power Plan. According to independent analysts, the Obama administration's radical climate agenda was on track to destroy hundreds of thousands of jobs and impose significantly higher utility bills on families and businesses all while, according to EPA's own model, producing no meaningful climate benefits. I congratulate President Trump on reversing these costly, ineffective, and onerous policies and putting forth a new plan to strengthen domestic energy production and our economy."
