Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) today issued the following statement after the Senate confirmed Jeff Sessions to serve as attorney general:

"Jeff Sessions has been a firm and consistent voice for justice and the Constitution," said Thune. "I was glad to cast a vote today for my colleague to serve as our nation's next attorney general. President Trump made a wise choice when he nominated Jeff to this role, and while the people of Alabama are losing a senator who has fought for them day after day, the nation is gaining an ardent defender of "we the people.'"
