"Norton in Your Neighborhood' with Petworth Residents in ANC 4C06, Tonight

Date: Oct. 13, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will host a "Norton in Your Neighborhood" conversation in conjunction with ANC 4C06 and residents of the Petworth community this evening, Thursday, October 13, 2016, at 6:30 p.m., at the Petworth Branch Library (4200 Kansas Ave. NW).

Norton will engage residents in a conversation about her work this session that has protected the District's budget autonomy referendum from being overturned; the funding increase she got for the D.C. Tuition Assistance Grant Program (DCTAG), which provides D.C. students up to $10,000 annually toward the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition at public four-year colleges and universities; and the increased funding she got for Metro. She will discuss with residents the unprecedented number of cosponsors for her D.C. statehood bill ahead of the November ballot initiative, where residents will vote whether they want D.C. to become the 51st state. Norton will also get feedback on her work in getting the National Park Service (NPS) to create a website to connect residents with NPS officials to improve D.C.'s NPS-owned neighborhood parks.
