Issue Position: Job Training

Issue Position

Teaching workers how to perform their jobs well is an essential part of economic growth. And part of getting the most out of education is training students in career skills. I fought for further paper science funding for UWSP during the State budget. The goal was to allow paper science training programs to encourage local companies to continue to train and hire local students.

I also fought for expanded use of the Fast Forward program, allowing companies to better recruit and train local employees for their careers.

Beyond the State budget, I worked on Assembly Bill 827, known as the workforce development bill, which would have allowed the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development to work with the UW System to recruit non-returning students into apprenticeship programs.
