Gianforte Responds To Agreement That Will Shut Down Colestrip 1 & 2, "A Failure Of Leadership"

Press Release

Date: July 12, 2016
Location: Bozeman, MT

Bozeman businessman and tech entrepreneur Greg Gianforte responded to the troubling news concerning the announced closure of Colstrip 1 & 2.

Gianforte called the news devastating and called on the governor to renounce the MEIC and the Sierra Club.

GIANFORTE: "This is a failure of leadership. This is why, come November, we need a new administration, both in Helena and in Washington, DC that will fight to save Colstrip and coal jobs. Together, we will have to do everything in our power to make sure we can hold on to Colstrip 1& 2.

In the meantime, I am calling on the Governor to clearly renounce the MEIC, the Sierra Club, and other supporters of his campaign who are working to shut down Colstrip."

Gianforte has been a strong advocate for Colstrip and the 7,100 jobs that are threatened by the Obama carbon plan. He held a town hall meeting in Colstrip last November, and again this past May.

Gianforte is a candidate for governor, and is the founder of RightNow Technologies. He started the company out of his house in Bozeman, and created over 500 jobs in Montana. The average Montana salary at RightNow was nearly $90,000 a year.
