Issue Position: Support for Veterans

Issue Position

California needs to stop the rhetoric about "supporting our veterans" and actually step up and make programs for veterans, especially our veterans returning from the Middle East, a real priority. I applaud Assemblymember Jim Frazier's bill that now allows veterans to be identified on California drivers' licenses -- so our veterans can become eligible for various available support programs. I believe California could and should do more to assist returning veterans in job re-training, housing needs, general access to mental health and other services they need. I do not accept that these brave men and women fight overseas for our freedom and are not offered the support they need to survive and thrive when they return home. If elected to the Assembly, this is one area I would like to focus on.
