Furthermore, we must address the skyrocketing cost of higher education. Access to our public universities has become increasingly unreachable for poorer and middle-class families as the portion of higher education budgets covered by state funding has steadily declined. In order to fulfill the University of Illinois's mission as a land-grant University, we need to ensure our flagship campus is an affordable option for residents of our state. Carol will work to make sure that the University of Illinois remains a world-class public university, and will fight for state funding to ensure that Illinois continues to attract the best faculty and researchers and to promote financial accessibility for University of Illinois students. She will also work to support Parkland College as an important education center and job provider in our community.
