Location: Concord, NH

After final passage by the New Hampshire State Senate of Senate Bill 464, which establishes a statewide drug offender grant program and was included in the Governor's comprehensive legislative proposal last November, Governor Maggie Hassan issued the following statement:

"Establishing a statewide drug court program is a critical step forward in our comprehensive approach to combat the heroin and opioid crisis that will help those battling addiction access treatment and recovery services. Existing drug courts have been successful in reducing crime, saving money and helping people return to their communities as contributing members of society through community supervision and intensive treatment, and this important bipartisan measure will help us build on that success.

"By expanding existing drug courts and establishing new ones across the state, Senate Bill 464 will help prevent people from slipping back into addiction and crime, and I applaud legislators from both parties for sending this bill to my desk. I look forward to signing this important bipartisan measure and to continuing to work together to ensure that our drug courts are backed by increased treatment capacity and a robust, long-term recovery system."
