Issue Position

Bobby authored House bill 3761, Border Agricultural Inspection Training Program which will allow the Texas Department of Agriculture to explore the possibility of supplementing federal customs & border protection officers with ag inspectors at the ports of entry on the border. This will significantly shorten wait times for a product whose shelf life demands that every hour count.

Recently, Rep. Guerra's study was selected to become an interim charge by Speaker Joe Straus. Chairman King and the Agriculture & Livestock committee visited McAllen to hold a hearing that reviewed the study, heard from expert testimony, and also toured the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge inspection facilities.
