Representative Kristi Noem today raised deep concerns over the President's final budget proposal, which increases costs for nearly every American.

"Whether it's his 25-cent-per-gallon gas tax to support a radical environmental agenda, his gutting of a critical safety net for farmers, or his complete disregard for solving our nation's debt crisis, President Obama has put forward a plan more focused on carving a political legacy than opening the door of opportunity for hardworking families," said Noem. "The good news is that it will never earn Congress' backing. We're aggressively working on a responsible alternative that builds a prosperous and healthy economy where every American can thrive."

President Obama's final budget proposal would increase spending by $2.5 trillion and raise taxes by $3.4 trillion over the next decade. Under this proposal, the national debt would be more than double what it was when the President took office.

Included in the proposal was a plan to impose a $10 tax on every barrel of oil, which would increase gas prices by as much as 25-cents per gallon. Additionally, he proposed reopening the bipartisan Farm Bill and dismantling critical risk-management tools.
