Fleming: Federal Assistance for Louisiana's Flood Victims

Statement

Date: March 14, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman John Fleming, M.D. released the following statement after a major disaster declaration was announced for the State of Louisiana, prompting the use of federal funds to help with recovery efforts in Clairborne, Grant, Morehouse, Ouchita, Richland and Webster Parishes.

"Northern Louisiana is reeling from the effects of a prolonged and devastating storm system that dumped more than a foot of rain over a significant area causing historic flooding to many communities. Tragically, three people have perished and over 13,000 evacuations have occurred due to the flooding.

"It is critical that vital federal resources are readily available to the hardest hit parishes; and I look forward to working alongside FEMA in assisting Louisiana residents as together we repair and rebuild our homes and communities."
