Statement

Date: Jan. 13, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Iowa Congressman David Young voted in support of a joint resolution of congressional disapproval to end the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) and Army Corps of Engineers' (Corps) expanded definition of the Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule and released the following statement.

"This vote sends a message to the EPA and Corps that they have neglected the concerns of folks in Iowa's rural communities and across the country.

"The President must stand up to his EPA and support our rural communities instead of supporting this blatant regulatory overreach.

"This fight continues until we kill this harmful rule."

The resolution passed the House of Representatives with bipartisan support by a vote of 253-166. It will next head to the President's desk.
