DeSantis: President Obama Has Turned His Back on Troops

Statement

Date: Oct. 22, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

President Barack Obama has vetoed the National Defense Authorization Act, which authorizes and prioritizes funding for the Department of Defense for Fiscal Year 2016. Rep. Ron DeSantis (FL-06), Chairman of the Subcommittee on National Security, issued the following statement:

"What kind of commander-in-chief vetoes the annual defense bill that received strong bipartisan support and authorizes critical funding for our troops? With his veto of the bipartisan defense authorization bill, President Obama has turned his back on our troops and reached a new low as a leader. Punishing the military out of spite because of a hunger for higher spending for failed agencies like the IRS is pathetic. Congress should override the President's veto forthwith."
