Rep. Keith Ellison released the following statement after His Holiness Pope Francis of the Holy See addressed a Joint Meeting of Congress:

"This morning, people everywhere heard Pope Francis speak their truth to the most powerful lawmakers in the world.

"His Holiness made it clear: when we prioritize people over profits and politics, America wins. Too many Americans are working multiple jobs and still scraping by at the end of the month. Too many migrants are being held in appalling conditions. And too many people are becoming sick because of air pollution and climate change.

"Pope Francis has issued a call-to-action for Congress to address these issues and others. Let's answer that call quickly and decidedly."
